Giving Machine 2026 Partner Organization Spotlight Vol.2: Japan Association for UNHCR
Common
UNHCR stands for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, a UN agency established in 1950 to support refugees. It provides international protection and assistance to refugees and internally displaced persons who have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict or persecution, and works toward resolving refugee issues. UNHCR has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize twice, in 1954 and 1981.
UNHCR’s activities span a wide range of areas, including emergency relief, protection, shelter, educational support, cash assistance, livelihood and self-reliance support, health and sanitation, protection of stateless persons, durable solutions, and addressing environmental and climate change issues.

Introducing the Representative
Kenji Asai, Representative for UNHCR, shared the following message:

1. Appreciation for the GIVE Machine:
We are very pleased to welcome the introduction of the GIVE Machine in Japan. This project is a wonderful initiative that allows people to experience the act of “giving” in a tangible and accessible way. We are deeply grateful to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for expanding opportunities for social contribution through this innovative effort.
The Japan Association for UNHCR sincerely hopes that, through the GIVE Machine, more people will become aware of the situation of those who have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict and persecution, and that the circle of support will continue to grow.
2. Message to Donors
Thank you very much for choosing to support UNHCR through the GIVE Machine. Your generous donation helps protect the lives of displaced people and empowers them to regain hope. Through this first-of-its-kind initiative in Japan, your compassion is truly reaching refugees around the world. We are deeply grateful.
You can support UNHCR through donations, sharing on social media, and participating in events.
